This was...okay. I liked it because it is a very good, firsthand look at the "flower and willow" world and I loved understanding the types and importance of kimono, ochiya, and everything else. It's a fascinating look at a completely different way of life, and one that's disappearing.

However, the author/narrator/main character is pretty unlikeable, which kept me from enjoying this more. As interesting as the story is, it's basically her building herself up, but the entire book is about how incredibly wonderfully important she was as a geisha.
