** spoiler alert ** You don't have to know much about the author's life or background to realize how much aspects of his character and experiences shine through the lives, attitudes, emotions and timber of the characters and plots of these 14 stories. They will leave an effect on you as well. There's a story here for almost every palate.

1. BALTO: What happens when we teach our kids to lie
2. LA CONCHITA: A mud slide life saving drama
3. QUESTION 62: A new sexual intimacy under girds issues about the shooting of feral cats
4. SIN DOLOR: A kid is born impervious to pain.
5. BULLETPROOF: It the fight over evolution vs. biblical origins of man and the relationships built and destroyed around it.
6. HANDS ON: Aging divorcee goes for plastic surgery and while coming on to her doctor.
7. THE LIE: A father experiencing post partum depression continues to avoid going to work by faking death of this child.
8. THE UNLUCKY MOTHER: A pro baseball player’s mother is kidnapped and the rescue attempt.
9. ADMIRAL: A cloned dog, loved by its owners, can’t be confused with any other.
10. ASH MONDAY: An Asian family lose their chinchilla farm.
11. 1300 RATS: A man, overcome by the death of his wife, adopts a snake and then rats and loses control.
