The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho (Goodreads author!)
very growth, message-oriented. Learned a lot. Inspiring. At the same time, a bit slow-moving at times... I was expecting a wholly different sort of novel when I began! but was pretty satisfied regardless. I dont know if I'd say it, "changed my life" as others have said, but it was certainly interesting!
