I read this book long ago and remembered liking it. Upon rereading I found I was put off by the backwards time line. The book starts with the four girls grown up and goes backwards to when they were little girls living in the Dominican Republic. There are hints of the political climate that requires the family to leave for the United States, but it is totally clear.
