** spoiler alert ** This one starts off just as slow as the entirety of The Fellowship of the Ring, but it really picks up in pace once Boromir wanders out in front of the Uruk-Hai Olympic Archery Team. After he gets his half-assed burial and Sam, Frodo and Gollum get underway in earnest, the book really moves along as fast as The Hobbit.

Lakeshia I agree with you that the book is rather slow in the beginning. I wish it focused more on the Hobbits. With any book, there's a method to the madness.
