Why oh why do I continue to do this to myself? Lots and lots of white space. Super dad, super cop, super doc Alex solves the mystery but only when he isn't chasing his new girlfriend and trying to find time to have sex with her. OK - I am not a prude (I really enjoy good sex scenes in fiction) but this is getting ridiculous.....When Patterson first conceived the Alex Cross character he is what drew readers in - he was an excellant cop, doc, and a good single dad. Now I think Patterson just keeps rehashing the same book with different female leads. No more for me......

Jeanne If you stop reading Patterson, I will be so proud of you!

Toni berkshire Amen to that - felt the same thing. Been there, done that.

Pam If you did not like this book you want to be sure to skip his latest Alex Cross book. It is very poorly written, the plot is unbelievable and Alex does not even come across as that good of a guy. I'm with you its time to quit reading the Cross mysteries.

Chibineko This is pretty much why I stopped reading this series- I couldn't stand the decline. Thanks for reaffirming my resolve not to pick up the books again!

Rachel I admit it. I want Bree killed off. I've been on a break from these books for a few years. I liked this one but for Bree. I started up on the one before this one. I enjoyed that one as we finally got closure with Maria's story. I was also looking for something "safe" to read after Gillian Flynn. There are low lives and there are less than low lives. I was also excited by the reemergence of Kyle Craig. Alas. He was not in the next one. I don't think Alex is Patterson's focus anymore. He seems to be more into his kids books based on his Social Media feeds. On to #15. I'm going to finish this series if it kills me
.

Ashleigh Langan I agree with all of you ..a friend if mine made fun of me for reading Patterson and I had this whole argument on why he's great now I'm embarrassed. Are any of his other series or stand alone books better or does Patterson lack imagination all together?
