This is the first part of the larger book called The Once & Future King. It's the fun King Arthur as Young Wart, Pupil of Merlin section of the tale. I got this from the Friends of The Library book sale: pristine condition. I'd never seen it as a stand-alone book before. I'm so glad I got it because there are major variations from the larger book. Missing = Wart visits ant colony, Wart travels with geese, Morgan Le Fay's castle of "marvelous pork." Added = Wart and Kay captured by evil witch, minor other things.
Phenomenally well written, hilarious, insightful, touching, unforgettable... one of my favorite books of all time.
