In Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, proof is given to those who seek it that love can be found in unlikely places, with unlikely people, and in unlikely circumstances. Although Miss Austen has written many great works, such as Sense and Sensibility and Northanger Abbey, Pride & Prejudice is by far her most acknowledged novel. In the rural Longburn, England, in the late 18th or early 19th century, the Bennet family lives with five daughters. Jane and Elizabeth, the two oldest, are about at the age to marry, and the story is that of Miss Elizabeth, and her finding an unexpected love in Mr. Darcy. Although the book is beautifully written and captivating, every novel has its flaws.
Although Miss Austen has an original and exquisite way of telling Elizabeth Bennet's story, her way of writing can occasionally be too wordy and become confusing. This quote, for ...more
