Persepolis 2: The Story of a Return by Marjane Satrapi
A fellow blogger and my close friend told me about "Persepolis" and highly recommended it to me. Having forgotten about it for a while, I encountered "Persepolis 2" by coincidence.
I was so taken by this graphic novel that I finished it in only an hour. Aside from Ms Satrapi's talent both in storytelling and in drawing, I should pay tribute to the translator, who had definitely been more than able to capture the essence of Ms Satrapi's story (originally written in French) and present it to English-speaking readers.
"Persepolis 2" depicts the period in Ms Satrapi's life in Austria where she went to high school and the college time afterward at her hometown. With appropriate amount of details, she had me relate to the teenage awkwardness that - I'm sure - many of us have experienced. Her humorous approach tames the difficulties she must've suffered during the culture crashes she had both while she was "in exile" and at home.
