I don't know about this book...
At first I was drawn into it and I didn't know why. Since I pretty much don't really care for people who are "intellectuals" or jerks (especially ones who feel the need to do something or act a certain way to feel good about what they're doing in life) the main character really wasn't appealing. I think it was the mystery of the death that sucked me in. I had all kinds of ideas about why it happened (most of them revolving around Julian) and when it was finally kind of explained, that's when I really started to notice the way this book was written.
It's a first person narrator. I hadn't noticed that. It suddenly hit me that it wasn't a third person limited. Although, when I thought about it, it really felt like limited because you have no idea what's happening since he's such an outsider. "The whole time he was relating all of these completely useless details he could've been talking about what was really going on. I mean, this book just pissed me off at that point."Dude. Couldn't agree more.
