Points of Power: Discover a Spirit-Filled Life of Joy and Purpose
by Yolanda Adams, Lavaille Lavette

Yolanda Adams with Lavaille Lavette have penned a very special, encouraging, inspirational book. I loved her open and honest approach, as well as how she shared her heart and the inspirational stories. She says, “I’ve learned we rarely look like the destiny inside of us! God didn’t see Gideon as he was, but as he could be.” She talks about how God views us as opposed to how we view ourselves. Good stuff.
Some of the topics discussed in this book are the power of faith, love, forgiveness, confession, praise, prayer, peace, protection and victory, just to name a few. This book can be used in a couple of different ways:
It can be used in your devotional time to start your day with an inspirational story and how to apply the message to your life; You can just read the inspirational stories by amazing people such as Billy Graham, T.D. Jakes, Robin Roberts, Chris Gardner and many more; or You can use this book for a personal study time to help you dig deeper into the bible stories and apply God’s principles to your life. Yolanda Adams provides a summary at the end of each chapter and then has questions to ask yourself and help you take a look at scripture in a new light.
I liked the fact that Yolanda had the summary, scripture passage, and the 10 Pensive Points at the end of each chapter. She really helped you to think about the story and take a closer look at the peoples lives she talked about and their situations. It was encouraging and challenging.
The personal stories and bible accounts were short, easy to understand and packed a powerful punch. She also helped you apply the passage of scripture to your life in a segment called Power Passage. These stories helped you see how God works differently in everyone’s life. Yolanda also provides a prayer to give you the confidence and guidance to take the next step in your personal relationship with God.
I’m so thankful to have read and received a review copy of this book. I’ll be reading this book again; there were so many gold nuggets inside these pages.
