4 stars is kind of high for this book as it is definitely better than average which I score as 3 stars. This was a very good story about four children sometimes considered casualites that basically raised themselves because of their selfish and neglectful parents. It's not that they didn't have parents or even educated parents - one an actress, the other a playwright - they were just totally selfish and just neglectful, and how the kids grew into adults and their each individual path. I love a book with well-developed characters - and this didn't disappoint. I also enjoyed how the mother was finally tamed in the end by the step grandson. Sweet. Liked it. Read it.
