Changeless is the fabulous second book in The Parasol Protectorate. This time our heroine, Lady Alexia Maccon, formerly Alexia Tarabotti has been given a gift from her new husband,Lord Maccon, it is a new parasol. Although the gift is visually impaired ( a nice way to say homely), it is equipped with poisoned darts, numbing agents, acid and of course perfume. No self respecting lady can be expected to fight crime without the benefits of perfume!
Alexia find the need to travel to Scotland, unfortunately with one of her selfish sisters, Felicity, her BFF Miss Ivy Hisselpenny, and Madame Lefoux (milliner and inventor of her new parasol). Their adventure begins by boarding a dirrigible (the latest in traveling). While traveling, Alexia is almost thrown overboard, Madame Lefoux is shot and Miss Hisselpenny finds herself in a compromising position with Lord Maccon's drone. Alexia meets up with her husband in an attempt to find out why the supernaturals have been trapped in human form and therefore unable to change.I cannot reveal anymore because it would spoil the plot and the end result.

I just loved the fast pace, intrigue, comedic conversations. I also savored the tenderness between the characters. However, as much as I know the ending was necessary to set the stage for the next book in the series, "Blameless," it hurt my heart. Oh well, the things a reader must suffer for good literature. I guess I had better have a spot of tea to calm my nerves while I anxiously await September. I just love this series!
