In talking to some of my more literary friends, apparently I am the LAST FEMALE ON EARTH who had not actually read this book. And now that I am finished, I am kicking myself for not having read it sooner. I already knew the story, so nothing was a surprise, but Austen has a fairly wry writing style that translates well to a modern reader even though her book was written almost 200 years ago. And, amazingly (or dissapointingly) enough, the interactions between women when it comes to men that they are pursuing also seem not to have changed much over 200 years. Enjoyable, intelligent, and with a happy ending. What more could you ask for in a book?
