before i start the review, can i just ask: aren't "read" and "already read" basically the same thing?
this is a fantastically funny book. it has been a life goal of mine to hike the AT, and after i read _a walk in the woods_ i thought more than twice about it. however, i recently visited the appalachian trail conference in harpers ferry, wv and my dream has been rekindled! i may give this book another run-through before i start planning, though. bryson offers his rendition of life on the trail, most times with hilarious anecdotes about his companion and the things/people they encounter along the way. he also describes some grizzly scenes and experiences that i'm not at all interested in having myself. but i guess you have to take the good with the bad, huh?
read it. you won't regret it.
