Another classic children book with a terrible message. The rainbow fish has beautiful iridescent scales, and the other fish refuse to be his friend because he doesn't want to share them. He relents, give all but one away, and in the end is happier because of his generosity.

Kids, if someone wants you to give away your BODY PARTS in order to be your friend, that is not someone you want in your life anyway. I fail to see how the fish was selfish for wanting to keep his scales. He kind of NEEDS those for his daily fishy activities, and to, you know, LIVE. At least I assume fish need their scales to live. I would think, at the very least, it would be quite painful to remove them.
