A nice book about raising children. Discipline, says Tedd Tripp, isn't a litany of punishments. Discipline is discipling. While this sometimes involves punishment, to be sure, it is primarily a description of an entire relationship characterized by loving attention and guidance. Instead of parenting by leaping from crisis to crisis, Tripp urges parents to have a vision for sheperding their children's conduct, education, emotional and spiritual development and, most importantly, their hearts. In shepherding our children, our ultimate goal is to introduce them to the Great Shepherd, our heavenly Father, and to create conditions conducive to their having a loving relationship with Him.
Nicely done. A bit corny around the edges at times, but a great message.
