This is a great book for history lovers. I found it engaging and it kept me going along. It is also shorter than a lot of David McCullough's other books, which is good if you're super busy like I currently am. The book is also a lot less depressing than I expected since one of the most amazing things about the flood (to me, anyway) is how most of the people survived. However, you can tell that this is David McCullough's first book - at times the book doesn't flow so well. Also, the ending seemed a bit abrupt to me - I would have liked to hear more about what happened to Johnstown after the flood and what happened to the people we learned about in the book. Still, it is a great read from an award winning author and definitely worth checking out.
