Paul Chowder wants his girlfriend to move back in with him. She left because Paul has a severe case of writer's block, and is unable to write the introduction to an anthology of poetry he has contracted to publish. Although Paul is a published poet, he has had to resort to doing odd jobs because teaching didn't work out for him. As he narrates the limbo he is in as a result of this impasse, Paul also gives us an ongoing lecture series on the art of rhyming, poetry in general, and certain poets --past and present. So if he can do this, why doesn't he just sit down and write that introduction?! This gem of a book makes the art of poetry accessible to anyone in a highly entertaining fashion and gives us a glimpse into the mind of an artist.
