An excellent book about hard times. Shroder avoids a Disney ending, where impossible things happen. Instead, we see the book's resolution in the insight 10 year old Fritz gains about the importance of facing his fears and doing the best he can.

The prose is spare but beautiful. This is a book that children and adults who appreciate good writing will find well worth reading. I am a fan!
