Frankenstein
by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley
wow Tina, that was good. Plus, remember dude, it was written 200 years ago- folks definately had a different perspective of the world. Shoot, the Ottomans were still in Greece and Byron hadn't even started his love affair with Misolonghi yet!!
I think you should write a letter to Jon Lovitz and ask him to do this. Seriously, maybe you can start a new trend - classic novels read in a farcical voice?
Haha! One of the best book reviews I've ever read. Also made me wonder why I've never read this book. I think I'll give it a try now. And, yes, I'll read it in Jon Lovitz' thespian voice!
"second, i wish i had a dollar for every time the word "wretch" was used."
I wish I had a dollar for every time the word 'countenance' was used!
The one thing that bothered me was how Shelley would go into such detail on how beautiful the setting was but this only made Frankenstein pity himself more.

first i'd like to say this book should (if it hasn't already) be recorded as an audio book with Jon Lovitz as the narrator using his Saturday Nite Live "thespian" voice. i think i read the entire book with that voice in my head which made me laugh out loud when i read "Begone, vile insect!" ha ha! i am still laughing!
second, i wish i had a dollar for every time the word "wretch" was used.
i'm sort of on the fence with this book. while the storyline kept my interest throughout, i feel i would have liked it better if there wasn't soooo much 1st person narration. too many lengthy wordy sentences in really really really long paragraphs.
Frankenstein really pissed me off. he was a fool. he was selfish, and really stupid. why didn't he just kill the creature right after he brought it to life when he realized its hideousness (or his mistake)? instead he just went on and on and on about how it bothered him so much. it obviously drove him mental enough ...more
