it was amazing
bookshelves: 2010, fantasy, young-adult

I was initially attracted to Brightly Woven because of its gorgeous cover. But fantasy is one of my favorite genres to read and this book has pretty much everything—great characters, action, adventure, romance, mystery…

Both Sydelle and North grow a lot over the course of their journey. Initially Sydelle really hated North for taking her away from her family and village but over the course of their journey she starts to learn more about him and values everything that he does. Their journey to the capital is wrath with many obstacles—what with a rogue wizard after them. And they didn’t always win. They did get hurt and beat down many times which made the story more exciting and made me root for them even more.

I was really impressed with the world building. The world came alive and was vivid with wizards and magic. The ending wraps up nicely and I believe this is a stand alone book but I would jump at the chance to read a sequel (if there ever will be one) or even another story set in the same world.
