Nobody does fluffy fantasy-romance like Anne McCaffrey, but there's better stuff out there with more substance. That said, I even subjected my Dad to a few of her novels and he actually didn't mind them too much. More about that later. This is part of a series of books concerning a family with powerful metal abilities - telepathy and the like. This particular one is mostly concerned with a question of age between the lovers. Damia's guardian falls in love with her. There's probably more to the plot than that, but trust me when I say that it's the essential part of the story.
