Brrrr...this one freaked me out bigtime.

Esteban del Mal I've heard creepy things about it, but I don't think it could be much creepier than the book on the Pentagon I threw on my 'to-revisit' pile to get to it.

Fair enough. Institution psychos are a ton scarier than the individual kind. I had to read this for a class, and we read a bunch of stuff about how Fowles posits a fourth part of the Freudian model: the Nemo. (Which is funny now, because it's a fish! who's lost his dad!) Ahem, anyway, I never got how the Nemo was different from the death-wish drive, but it was something about the annihilating part of the psyche, the negating one. That's pretty much what I got without a google. :)

Esteban del Mal I am unfamiliar with Freud-Nemo. I know of a Captain Nemo and that fish.

Thanatos, I know. (I love that word.)

I'm wondering now if I misspelt Nemo. Hold on...

Yup. Apparently outlined in a book called Aristos.

Kinga Ewww... That's gross.

Esteban del Mal I can see it turning Morrissey on. Good thing he has music to blow off steam.
