The Bonfire of the Vanities by Tom Wolfe
Why did I wait so long to indulge myself in this page turner?
To the chagrin of the beau, I spent almost every waking moment of Thanksgiving week with a glass of Cabernet Shiraz in one hand and this book in the other.
This was a great, albeit tragic, read with somewhat of an uplifting end.
Given the current state of affairs in the US e.g. in the middle of election cycles, downturn in the economy, "Sex & the City" lifestyles longings, coupled with foreclosures and individuals struggling with jumbo ARMs, the Bonfire of the Vanities is quite the cautionary tale.
