Although not only due to my general lack of outdoor recklessness, I don't totally buy in to the Cult of McCandless -- but I can clearly see it as explored by Krakauer in his book. He has a lean prose style and blurred sense of first person authenticity that feels sort of like the love child of Didion and Hemingway. Faults and all, I'm a big fan, actually -- currently reading Krakauer's "Into Thin Air" (more on that title soon!)
