Just the best Christmas story of all time. Forget Dickens, this book puts the dumb-ass in Christm-ass. It's a hilarious, but intriguing mystery/suspence/romance/comedy novel set in a coastal California town (I think it's about Carmel, personally) where theres nothing to do but chat up tourists, get drunk, and talk out nothin' but each other. The lone, sloth-like lawman, the over aggressive salvation army santas, the retired but revived overly medicated b-movie queen, the guy in the trench coat, the gruff bar maid with the dry vagina... it's everything you'd want in a Christmas story. It's murder, it's mystery, it's perversion... it's, it's... oh, just read it and have a happy holiday.
