First of all let me say this book was GROSS. I have a big rat phobia & there are tons of rats in this book on top of all the detailed (and REAL) parasite grossness mentioned throughout the story. But because Scott Westerfeld is such a masterful storyteller and out of morbid curiosity, I read the whole thing quickly. Granted, my nose stayed in a scrunched up disgusted expression & I constantly kept lifting my feet off the floor so imaginary rats wouldn't scuttle past them. But it was actually very interesting & a thought-provoking book. This dude can write.
