2.5 stars.

GOOD - The dialogue between characters was some of the most realistic I've read.

BAD - The story bounced around with a clumsy feel and some of the writing felt klunky. I'm giving Mankell the benefit of the doubt, perhaps it is a translation issue. However I do feel that the author spent a lot of time directing the reader to very specific facts and subplots that he never had any intention of resolving. And that just left me unsatisfied.
