Party Monster: A Fabulous But True Tale of Murder in Clubland by James St. James
I heard a story about a guy who was a club kid. I didn't know who club kids were. (Yes, I'm a little out of touch with pop culture...) He killed his drug dealer, chopped off the legs, and threw the pieces into their city's body of water. He told all of his friends, to free himself from guilt..and they all partied another few months before the cops finally found the body and arrested him.
Originally, I started reading this book to try and understand why a (tight knit counter culture) community would allow bad things to happen. The concept intrigues me. I belong to a counter culture where bad things do happen. (Though not like this!) Why do people ...not acknowledge or address the issues? A lot of times, it seems they do not have the tools to do so. ...but there's more to it than that, and you should read this before I put my own thoughts into your head.
It is extremely witty. It's written by a very very gay man, who is quite the lady. ...and the stories he tells throughout ar...more
