I picked this book up thinking it would be a light, easy read, boy was I was wrong! It is a lot more rich and in many ways dark than either the cover or the synopsis suggest. In it, Thomas has created two very deeply flawed and tragically broken characters. Then she slowly peels away all the hurt, betrayal and fear until finally forgiveness and acceptance is achieved. I loved following this journey. This book would easily have been a 4 or even 5 star read if the sex had not disturbed me so much. It wasn't particularly graphic or even lengthy, it was the way in which it was used, consistently against her will (in his case) and in anger and hurt (as in her case), making it very unsettling and ultimately leaving a bad taste throughout an otherwise riveting read.
