This is a romance that twists and turns as it unfolds. Victoria lives with her eccentric aunt and somehow has resisted marriage for years. She loves adventure and pulls her friends into it from time to time. When she is introduced to Earl of Stonevale, she sees another man who only wants her for her money. What the Earl sees is an heiress full of fire that he can’t do without. He convinces her to let him escort him on her on her adventures. When they are caught out, they marry quickly and leave for his home. When he inherited his title, the lands were derelict. As they become local legends, the two work together and get through many trials. Going back to London, they proceed like the happily married couple they were. When a kidnapping and murder attempt happens, they realize that they truly love each other. It was a great read with the typical twists and turns this author is known for.
