I'm a huge admirer of Temple Grandin, what she has accomplished in her life is incredible, both in her work with animals and her work within the autism community. This book gives a fascinating insight into animal behavior, and makes connections between how animals and autistic people think that are more than thought provoking.

What really makes this an enjoyable read, though, is Temple's writing style, and the personal stories she uses to illustrate her points. Reading this book is more like listening to her speak to you, as opposed to reading a nonfiction text. It's very obvious where her expertise lies, her understanding and opinions of livestock and their care is far superior to that of household pets. She admits her own shortcomings though, without avoiding the theories she has in respect to animals she isn't as familiar with.

Anyone who shares their life with animals, or with someone on the autism spectrum, can only benefit from reading this book.
