I was surprised to discover that my expectations for "erotic poetry" were not as cummingslike as I would have thought. I was drawn by this book because I imagined I would find erotic meaningfulness (...) in cummings's language, but it turned out the poems that mostly filled my expectations in that regard were not the ones in which language or syntax were pushed to the limit. Rather, it was in the more orderly poems, the ones in which something like a concrete idea and its "development" was still to be discerned; where something else was going on besides the collapse of grammar and differentiation (between words and, more metaphorically, between bodies too). In fact, the poems with capital letters and relatively uniform punctuation seemed to do the (erotic) job much better!
