Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3)
by Suzanne Collins
by Suzanne Collins
these are the things i have done for this book:
i have given up my birthday, waiting in line from 5 until its midnight release, braving the crowds and noise and commotion...
i have missed my subway stop and ended up taking the crappy way into work...
i have seriously considered calling out of work to sit at home and finish it...
i have read in elevators, while walking down the street, walking up the stairs, while eating dinner without even tasting it...
i have rushed my beloved dawn powell's book, racing through it so i could get to this book as quickly as possible...
i have come home to a laundry bag full of clothing that needed to be folded and a bunch of dishes that needed to be done - ignoring which usually gives me mental discomfort... but i did...
i have thrown off my netflix schedule for the week...
i have read this book in one day, and now i am wanting more...

*********************************************************************************
i just realized that this book comes out the day after my birthday. which means i will then be 33, and will have waited in anticipation for a TEEN FICTION book for almost a year. and i will probably read it in a day, and afterward feel utterly shattered with lacking. and then i can go be a grown-up again.
but for now, i can't help it, it's that good of a series, and i have given up any adult-shame i might have felt for bouncing up and down in my skin with wanting this book this very minute.
32 and still a child...

You're a summer baby! That's the best time to be born. The parents got bored in the winter and cuddled.

I wanted to call you a nerd for waiting, but then there was talk about when you were born so I included them both, but you are right it doesn't make sense. You are still a nerd though with all of your HG3'ing!!!
i don't care - i am still excited. me and all the teenage girls on goodreads.com are going to have a slumber party.

You read all the Left behind books and Harry Potter you are so winning on the weird book selection.
no we are hard at work - i redid the movie table and my tables and the melville house display, jazz is finishing upstocks. plus, i shelved all your bio resort. dick.
He was way before your time, Paul was the art lead when I started and when there were books still in the section and not just big empty spaces.
Haha, until I read the GoodReads comments, I didn't even know this was a YA series. If it makes you feel better, you aren't the only 32 year old impatiently waiting for the final book! This series is riveting!
Day after my birthday too! I'll be 29. Yes, it is pathetic, but this trilogy is worth looking-a-fool!
The Mockingjay launch party is going to be at Books of Wonder and Suzanne Collins is going to read from the beginning of the book...

do tell me more. is it a midnight magic party? can adults go? is this the books of wonder that is TWO BLOCKS AWAY FROM WHERE I WORK??
now i am in anticipation for this book. but i haven't read the second one yet so maybe i'll let it sit on my reading list until this comes out but that's probably not going to happen. cute kitties. :D that last one looks like my cat on steroids.
yes, that's the one, karen! here are the details:
Books of Wonder will close at 7pm as usual on Monday, August 23rd, then reopen at 8pm. Beginning at 8pm, there will be two lines to check in. One line will be for those who have paid in advance to pick up their vouchers that will be exchanged at midnight for you copy of Mockingjay. The other line will be for those who wish to pay for their copies that night. After paying, those customers will also receive their voucher to be exchanged at midnight for a copy of Mockingjay. Numbers will be given out as you receive your vouchers. However, we should warn you that the pre-paid line will move much faster (since there will be no waiting for people to pay) and so those folks will get to the front of their lines faster and so most likely receive lower numbers. After you have received your vouchers and your number on line, you are free to enjoy all the entertainment and activities until just before midnight, when SUZANNE COLLINS will read. After her reading, we will line people up in numerical order and beginning at midnight, start handing out books in number order for people to get their books stamped by Ms. Collins.
So don't miss out on this gala event! Going from 8:00pm to 1:30am, the Books of Wonder official Mockingjay launch party is sure to be a night you and your teen readers will never forget!
It also says:
As Ms. Collins has to leave promptly at 1:30am, books will be given out and stamped in the order in which customers check-in at our front counter on Monday night.
She really has someplace to be at 2 in the morning? Interesting...
SC hardly ever does events so this is a pretty big deal, though.

i think i am going to do it!! they sell cupcakes there too!thank you so much for letting me know!! you will go too, yes?
they do sell cupcakes, don't they!
i was not planning on going but i will meet you there if you are going to go!
btw, i totally quoted the wrong part. i meant to include a sentence about how SC has a finger injury and that is why she is stamping instead of signing.

it's going to be CRAZY there. she NEVER does events. and the store isn't that big. i went to see neil gaiman there and had to wait five hours to get my books signed. on the other hand, i read the lightening thief during that time, and ate pastries, so it was certainly not a waste.
come on, collins, heal!! katniss wouldn't let a finger injury get in her way...yeah - let's do it (twss)

I was going to be mean about that now I can't
does that mean the book will not be worth so much? I can see the ebay entries book stamped by susan collins.
i am not selling mine anyway. it is my birthday present to myself!why were you going to be mean?? is my mean-radar off??
ha!! i haven't actually started it - i rushed through my last dawn powell pages as i walked home last night and after i catch up on a bunch of things i should have been doing yesterday, i m going to crack that sucker open and enjoy it at a leisurely pace.
So!!! How many teens did you knock over to get inside? Did you turn to the last page and read the last sentence?
