In my recent rejuvenation of book devouring, i stumbled across this memoir and fell in love with it instantly. Im not sure if its the fact that i can relate to it on some level, or the simple fact that the story being told is one of love and triumph in the most rarest of forms.
She writes the story about her and her "twin" brother, a black child that her parents adopted. They grow up in rural indiana in the midst of perverse racism and fundamental Christianity. (Not a surprise that these two things exist together) Ultimately this is a love story that will break your heart and give it back to you. A must read!
