Let me say this right now: this is not the type of book I normally read. Okay? I read it because I have a character in my work-in-progress novel who was abused by her husband, so I wanted to get some insight into the experience from someone who lived it.
This book fit the bill (and was, surprisingly, the only book like it my library offered). It wasn't a great book. It took way too long to get going, for one thing, and I found it agonzingly slow until the beating commenced after the author married Conor. It picked up after that, as you might expect.
