I almost never quit a book before finishing - I just HAVE to know what happens - call it a quirk. Even though I didn't much care for the first book in this series ( My Fair Captain ), there was still this tiny (perhaps crazy) part of me that just HAD to know what would happen with the overall story arc going into this sequel.

Thankfully, The Englor Affair was much more bearable than the previous novel. Mostly, I thought the romantic relationship was better depicted here and more palatable to my own tastes as compared to its prequel. (I HATED the whole "sir/boy" dynamic in My Fair Captain. It was poorly handled and a total turn-off.)

But despite its improvement, The Englor Affair still was just "kinda ok" for me. I was also disappointed to find that the overall story-arc was left unfinished, assumably due to anticipation of more books in the series. I guess we'll see.
