Dog Days: Dispatches from Bedlam Farm by Jon Katz
I wanted to like this more, having heard that Katz was the closest America had to James Herriott, but he's a little too smug for my liking. The cacophony of his small farm is well captured, and any animal lover will admire his care and compassion. But he's just a little too pleased with it all. And, hey, what about the wife and kid? Bring them to the farm, or go back to the city. Really.
