The only thing more irritating than a book about beautiful people living in New York--because New York is the ONLY city that EVER existed in the world worth writing about--is how much I loved this book about beautiful people living in New York. I didn't have any issues with the 9/11 element to the book, though it's clear the whole time that that's where we're headed. Maybe it's just me, but I thought it was tastefully, elegantly done. Felt also that the book was a clinic in how to pace a so-called novel of (bad) manners.
I probably read this entire book over the span of two to three days while on vacation, stayed up late nights reading it and picked it up again first thing when I woke up in the morning. It's been a few week since I've read this and I'm still thinking about the characters. The only real letdown was finishing it just two hours into a 14 hour flight. Not just for New Yorkers who believe they're the last stop on the evolutionary chart.
