Interesting depiction of the time, both of the attitude toward the new creatures, the fossils, and the limitations on women. These women are subject to the same social constraints as the women in Jane Austen's novels (she does get mentioned) but they have come to terms with spinsterhood and can see the benefits of it. It was hard to put down.
