 rating: 5 of 5 stars I should put this on a "re-reading" list, because I'm going through this book for the third time. I've read a few of Greg Iles' books, but I have not been so affected by a novel in quite some time as I have Turning Angel. Unlike most modern authors, who are only looking to sell books (you can't honestly tell me that James Patterson writes as many books as he does a year because he's in it just for the sake of the craft), and unlike most modern novels, which are written for a cheap, quick thrill...Iles' Turning Angel is a masterpiece. While it may not exactly be what some consider "literature", it is certainly a profound, moving work that makes you question our society's boundaries and what we consider inappropriate behavior...and also what we think of love. Many of us refuse to think too far outside the box, but Iles does a masterful job of pushing you into an admittedly uncomfortable situation and forces you to question what you think is right or wrong.
 
 I don't whether it's the murder, sex, death, intrigue, thrill, or fantastic characterizations in this book *and it's probably all of these, and more*, but I couldn't put this book down...and I still can't. I loved it so much I checked out the audio book from the public library, and found myself loving the novel all over again because of reader Dick Hill's amazing vocal performance. I've recommended this book to friends and patrons alike *I work in a public library and I'm constantly asked for novel recommendations*, and I'll gladly tout this book to anyone I think would enjoy it.

I should put this on a "re-reading" list, because I'm going through this book for the third time.
