I read this book in high school, and while I've *thought* I carried a fondness for it ever since, I'm not so sure anymore. I'm wondering if I confused it with a book by LaVyrle Spencer ('Years' I think it's called) that has a similar backstory.
I love novels that transport me back in time, which should be pretty obvious since my absolute favorites are 'Gone With the Wind' and 'Anne of Green Gables'. This one failed to hold my interest; I had to force myself to finish and that was after I took a break from it and read another book entirely.
Much of the story involves Christy on a search for her faith, and while I knew that from reading before, I...don't know. I'm in a strange place with what I believe right now and without trying to be blasphemous, I got tired of reading about how great God is and the power of prayer, etc.
I'm going to give this book to my husband's 87 year old grandmother. She'll love it.
