I thought that having our say was an outstanding book. It showed the day to day struggles of the Delany Sisters, Sadie and Bessie. It was so fascinating hearing there stories. I was surprised how much they remembered, because they where very old when they where interviewed. They said they lived so long because they had each other. They were both totally different from one another. Sadie was down to earth and was always there to listen to you no matter if you where white or not. Bessie on the other hand was very sweet and fierce and the same time. Bessie stood up for herself a lot and stood up for Sadie when she would not. They loved there mom and dad and grandma and grandpa. They made sure in there own way that woman and black woman would be treated like equals one day. They had to really fight for what ever they were trying to do because they where black woman trying to make a descent living, and that was what they did. Bessie was a dentist and Sadie was a school teacher. I though th...more
