** spoiler alert **
This book started out really strong for me. I loved the world she created and the way she described the land and the people. I was drawn into the bond shared between Sylvi and Ebon as they tried to figure out why it was that they could talk to each other and no one else could. When Sylvi went to Ebon's homeland as no human could and discovered that she could talk to all of the Pegasi there, I couldn't wait to see what this would mean for her people back home. There was a wonderful tension between the magicians and Sylvi as they were all upset that she could talk to Ebon. I was led to believe that they were harboring a secret, like they were the reason that all humans couldn't talk to their Pegasus.
Tension was high at the end of the book as the magicians met to discuss the situation after four years of research. But, instead of Sylvi triumphantly telling them her own discoveries, they presented some story of proof that it was bad and separated them!
This story was good right up until the end and then I was highly disappointed. She set things up so well and left absolutely no resolution for the reader. Perhaps there will be a sequel (as there should be) but in that case, three little words would have helped dramatically. To Be Continued . . . Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in this book.
