Bought this during the bicentennial era and found it useful in creating a few costumes for events. Not a scholarly tome, this is useful for little theatre and hobbyist costumers. Covers 1580 to 1850. Line drawings reminiscent of the Wilcox books cover good range of male, female, children and occupations/status. Especially useful are the sections on construction showing pattern modification to achieve period look; making simple period bonnets & hats; collars, kerchief & shawl arrangements. Indexed.
