Literary Device: Parallel Story. Mother and Little Sal and Mother Bear and Little Bear are on opposite sides of Blueberry Mountain picking blueberries. Little Sal and Little Bear both lose their mothers and almost end up with the other’s mother

This is such a great little book! My favorite part is when the mother turns around expecting to see Sal and she sees the Little Bear eating berries from her pail.

As a mother, I have experienced that moment of panic when you think you have lost your child. My son was probably about three years old when we were at the mall shopping and I lost sight of him. We were in a clothing story and the little devil was hiding from me in a rounder of clothes!
