I really like this series. I'm a big fan of mixed genres, and Charlaine Harris is an expert at adding the supernatural to the everyday and making it seem perfectly ordinary. She also has a way with mystery, and this leads to some fabulous genre-blending.

I thought the middle books in the Harper Connelly series were easy-ish to predict as mysteries go, but this one was far from. Tying a current case with Harper and Tolliver's painful past was a brilliant move, making an unbelievable situation remarkably believable.

This was probably the best in the series, and I hope it's not the last. (Though now that Harper and Tolliver have solved the mystery of their own past, I'm afraid it will be.)
