I am several reviews behind in relation to what I've read, but I felt I actually had things to say in regards to this book.

It held threads of several other genres, but not enough to make me place it on those 'shelves'.

The town of Gentry, even though it is "more affluent/better off" than all the towns surrounding it, still held a dystopian air. The whole book had that sort of feel to it, and that definitely appealed to me. I'm always a sucker for a good dystopian novel. haha.

It also held a slight edge of horror/thriller in some aspects. These were toned down to a YA extent, but the themes were still in place.

The idea, the pacing, and the overall book would almost make me give it a higher rating. The one thing that I would have liked a little *more* from were the characters. But Morgan, you say, characters are more than "one thing". I know, but I am grouping them all together since they all seemed to take a bit of a back seat. Even Mackie seemed to be a bit of a shadow of what he could have been.

To put it simply: It was black and white. I was looking for color.

That said? If you come across a copy of this book? It's a quick read and not a waste of time. My complaint is not a large one.
