This is the 9th book in "The Others" series by Christine Warren. The heroine of the book is Dr. Josie Barret, the town vet in a small town in northern Oregon. The hero is Eli Pace, the town sheriff, who also happens to be a were-lion shifter. Even though they have known of each other's existence, neither Eli nor Josie has really looked at the other person. Trying to solve the mystery of why a lupine was shot and is not healing like she should be, Eli realizes that Josie is his mate and sets about to make sure that she knows it too.

This story was pretty good but I didn't feel like it was as good as some of the other books in this series. I felt that the missing element had to to do with chemistry of the two leading individuals...I just didn't feel the heat with them that I did in some of the other books. Overall still a worth while read.
